Sensational!!

Tame Impala's long overdue first album lives up to the hype. Plenty of fantastic tracks and really a groundbreaking (well if you don't count the 70's) new genre of modern music. It's in my car. It should be in yours.

Appreciate greatness

Ignore the talk of hype.
Ignore the talk of too much phasing.
Just appreciate this album for what it is! In parts, it's reminiscent of so much great music but so inventive. Just awesome, but what's great is that you really enjoy the flaws.
Love it, not for everyone - but the beauty is they don't care.
Five stars guys

An outstanding album!

From start to finish, Tame Impala's debut LP is really an enjoyable collection of psychedelic rock that is a bit of a throwback to the good old days. Songs like Solitude is Bliss and Desire Be Desire Go are familiar of their previous works - the latter was on their first EP. But while some bands add polish from EP to LP, Tame Impala have gone the other way, creating a more raw sound that, at times, feels more like an extended jam session than a typical album. But there's nothing typical about Tame Impala - they combine some great riffs with a touch of electric mixing that gives you that great sound. It's a bit of a shame Sundown Syndrome and their massive cover of Blue Boy's 90s dance hit Remember Me weren't included, but then again it's just great to hear some new stuff from Australia's newest talented rock band. The new Wolfmother some have said, but Tame Impala are, in my opinion, just that much bit more exciting.

Biography

Formed: Perth, Australia

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Kevin Parker (vocals/guitar) and Dominic Simper (bass) formed Tame Impala as 13-year-olds in Perth in 1999, sticking to bedroom recordings until 2007, when Jay Watson joined them on drums and backing vocals. Their sound was pure late '60s, but wasn't the sound of any specific band from the era. They were as likely to be channeling the Nazz as the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Cocooned away inside walls of psychedelic fuzz in Western Australia they re-created their preferred period one song at a time with...
