So different
Lyrically, amazing. Musically, very good. But also very different. They've adopted a more "hardcore" sound and there is a noted lack of "breakdowns" and metal influence. A couple of songs sound very similar, but saying this each track does have something special. You don't necessarily need to be a old fan of Carpathian to enjoy this album. Best tracks are: Sun Heights, Insomnia, Ceremony, SeventyK and Permanent. Definitley purchase this one!
Best Hardcore Album Of 2008, if not ever.!
okay... to be honest i found carpathians previous release, nothing to lose very short and well.. im not the biggest fan of moshcore, the self titled ep with the metalcore sound however is incdredible.. but onto isolation.. i must say i really enjoyed the wrecked 7" some great hardcore songs, so i was looking foward to this album... it MAJORLY exceeded my expectations.. the first week it was being streamed on the carpatian myspace i swear i listened to it onwards of 20 times, and seeing them live at manning bar at the end of that week.. was incredible. onto the album Isolation- An amazing intro track does everytihng an intro should do, great lyrics and vocal phrasing,, and at this point you can notice how crisp the production is.. Cursed - Another amazing track awesome lyrics once again.. you really feel his pain through his words.. amazing stuff also, nice guest vocals by J.D from shipwreck Spirals - Great song, first song uploaded on the myspace a few weeks prior to the release, a great hardcore anthem with lots of crowd participation moments Insomnia -- Another great track, deals with the pain of touring (my assummption) and being away from family and friends, awesome lyrics once again, this album really does deliver lyrically The Cold Front - Although my least favourite song on this album, it has some really great lyrics and raises a few questions,i believe ill grow to like it Deadbeats from dead hearts - Great song, although the closest thing to a filler track on this album, is still really good, they played it live also. Sun Heights - My personal favourite songs, its got some great verses, a catchy chorus and some amazing lyrics with lotso f driving hardcore energy Seventyk - This song, althoguht i have no idea why its on this album, i enjoy, it shows a very juvenile view, maybe marty went through the themes explored in this song in his childhood.. i dunno. Ceremony - Re-recorded for islation previously appearing on the Wrecked 7" has some really great lyrics, a very energetic beatdown section and some great vocals from Patt flynn of have heart, another great hardcore band, check em ;) And finally.. Permanent - An excellent closer, quoting Ian curtis of joy division, and a very sneaky Acrostic poem style verse spelling W.R.E.C.K.E.D which i thought was really cool, followed by a really passionate breakdown/beatdown, then another verse and the album ends on some nice chanting and gives a feeling of closure and then you lsiten again, and again.. Buy this album, i downloaded it ( iknow im bad).. but then i bought it,, its really worth it, also the packaging is really artsy 5 stars!.. second only to my favourite albums of all time Don't close your eyes (ep) Killing with a smile Horizons.. nick.
