iTunes Review

In late 1983, Cold Chisel announced their imminent breakup and set off upon their farewell Last Stand national tour, which culminated in a series of sold-out, epic concerts at the Sydney Entertainment Centre during December 1983. The Last Stand soundtrack remains a fine testament to the pure passion and exhilaration of Chisel at their best. But the band recorded so much material that they were unable to fit everything on the live album. Four of these tracks originally appeared as bonus material on the 1994 CD single of “Yesterdays.” “Wild Colonial Boy” (the regular set opener at the time), the emotional “Letter to Alan” — both from Circus Animals — “Build This Love” from Twentieth Century, and The Jimmy Barnes Band song “Only One” are dramatic proof of just how powerful Chisel was in the live arena. The rousing cover of the Beatles’ standard “Twist and Shout” came from the encore of the band’s final concert, 15 December, and is previously unreleased and exclusive to iTunes.
