A brave attempt at a classic....
.... but it should've never happened. What's worth doing is worth doing well but not this one.
I would rather listen to Marcia Hines sing original songs than constantly remake other people's songs. This was not a good idea at all. The Tapestry Tribute to Carole King album gave the original Tapestry album an updated sound, but this particular album does not bring anything new to the table, and it doesn't work.
Instead of remaking songs, why not write new materials inspired by, say this album? Don't we have great Aussie songwriters out there? Don't we have decent producers confident enough in Marcia's talents?
ah, memories
I was a fan of Marcia way back when she did the big tour with Jon English. Sort of lost touch with her music for a couple of decades;-) I got pointed to this album by listening to an interview with Marcia on ABC Radio, where she talked about why she made this album. So I listened to it, and ultimately bought the album. Since then I keep find myself humming or singing these songs in the back of my mind while working.... which is as much due to Marcia's ability to articulate them really well as to Carole King's ability to write haunting songs. I'm pretty pleased I bought it.
Isn't Marcia only about remaking songs?!?!
She must be the queen of "copy and paste" in the music world!!!
