Customer Reviews

Different direction, but was it the right one?

Personally, I am a huge Muse fan and always will be but of late I have had to question their drive. I also hate poorly structured reviews so hopefully this doesn't come across as a shot at Muse without any backing.

This song is straight forward pop nonsense, what happened to the three guys who could equal the noise of a 6 piece band with a backing orchestra? What happened to pushing the genre in a new direction like Origin of Symmetry? What happened to songs that were epic and sucked you in not on their catchy nature but on the merit of the sharp witted songwriting?

Whilst people always complain that bands change style I believe this is an integral part of a band's mechanics. This song and parts of the album which proceeded it have shown that Muse are driven by simple pop music that appeals to the masses. There's no Citizen Erased here or a Hysteria, there is absolutely no musical talent in this bland, straight forward 3 minute song made for commercial radio.

Come on Muse, Dead Star and In Your World was a brilliant EP between albums and now we have to settle for this? Oh, sorry I forgot, the people who Muse appeal to these days probably don't know anything they released before 2006.

=(

What has been produced here is a basic, run of the mill pop song that fails to impress, scraping so low at the bottom of a shallow, filthy, commerically driven pit; named pop music, that it might just fit perfectly into a Twilight movie... Oh wait.

Fantastic

Yet another great song by Muse, however the only bad thing about it is that its the lead single for the new Twilight movie... Its heartbreaking to see such an amazing band have its name associated with such terrible book and film franchises, no doubt tweens will love this song simply because its related to Twilight.

Biography

Formed: 1997 in Teignmouth, Devon, England

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Muse's fusion of progressive rock, glam, electronica, and Radiohead-influenced experimentation is crafted by guitarist/vocalist Matthew Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard. Bored by the sleepy life provided by their hometown of Teignmouth, Devon, the three British friends began playing music together. They started the first incarnation of their band while only 13 years old, changing the name of the group from Gothic Plague to Fixed Penalty to Rocket Baby Dolls as time...
