Icon indeed
Have been waiting a long time for his new material, it took a few listens, and yes, the vocoder voice left me feeling like it was way over produced, but at least Pete has been restricted to a track of 3 minutes, unlike his many previous attempts. There are a few hooks that have lodged in my brain, so for me, it was worth the purchase. I hope for more original material, and maybe some remixes.
Back from the dead
While not a HRG juggernaut like DOA's best, the songs builds energy and colour. The vocoder vocals, while a little annoying, are complexly layered and successfully hide the fact that Pete has lost his singing voice. The chorus is simple though catchy. It's the best song Pete has done since the late eighties and has strong The Dirty Disco influences. The lyrics capture Pete's personal emotional insecurity and bloated ego well. And it's fun. There may be musical life left in him yet.
Robotic Dance Perfection
Fans have been poised for months for this track and I must admit I am very impressed. Although the track is Pete's first Solo release, it still has the great Dead Or Alive feel we all know and love. Electronic Dance at it's best I am looking forward to more!!!!!!!
