Album Review

Somewhere between All-American Rejects and Lady GaGa lie the Friday Night Boys, a power-emo band from Fairfax, VA, with frat-party attitude and just a touch of dance-pop hookery. On the quartet's 2009 debut, Off the Deep End, the group easily, breezily tears through 12 tales of young lust, debauchery, and the occasional awkward moment. It's the pop-punk speed fans have come to expect from the Fueled by Ramen label, but with an emphasis on the genre's first word.

Band to watch in 2009/2010

I've been listening to this band for a while and in doing so, have seen just how quickly they are progressing in the music industry over in the U.S. Their music is catchy and their lyrics are well suited to their teen-based audience which is enabling them to become more popular on the music scene. They're lucky enough to be part of the Fueled by Ramen family and have appeared on MTV's TRL which has also attributed to their success. I recommend 'She's Finding Me Out' and also, 'High School' from their That's What She Said EP and 'Give It Up' from their earlier work on their The Sketch Process EP. Without a doubt, they're definitely a band to watch in 2009/2010!

One of the best 2009 albums

He formed Friday Night Boys in 2006 and rounded out the lineup with bassist Robby Dallas Reider, guitarist Mike Toohey, and drummer Chris Barrett. Shows were infrequent at first; Goldstein had recently relocated to Harrisonburg for college, and his studies prevented him from booking many shows. Friday Night Boys did spend time recording their own songs,...
