Review of One of You For Me
An excellent follow up to her previous album, Under the Town. Not that different from her previous work, but that's fine as her output so far has been uniformly excellent. Can't wait to hear her upcoming album. Of note, the two last tracks are live versions of songs on her two previous albums. Her sound isn't dissimilar from Nina Nastasia, another singer songwriter who I believe comes from the U.S.
Hmmm...
I bought this EP for Ms Throsby's bloodless cover of 'At This River', the sample of which sounded quite good. Vocally, Throbbers Jnr is trying for Suzanne Vega -- but she's doing an odd detour through Summer Bay with her self-consciously 'Strine' vowels. Most of the time, however, poor Holly runs out of breath before she even gets a line out. Sarah Blasko (who provides B/Vs) could teach her a thing or two about phrasing and breath control.
