Weirdly Wonderful
What else can you say about a four part harmony version of the Credence classic Bad Moon Rising. However, take the time to listen to this cover and you'll find it brings something quite new to this piece and dare I say it you'll find the need to listen to it over and over again.
Reely Nice
It's wonderful to be able to access the music of the Reels on iTunes. But what we really need is to see their classic album "Quasimodo's Dream" available again. That album is quite simply the most extraordinary album released by any Australian band in the 80's. But until we can have that fantastic album, "Reel To Reel" will have to do. Being a collection of some of the best tracks of the band's stellar career, it's by no means a poor substitute, so I guess it's good enough, for now.
Hugely underrated Aussie band
There is one particular killer track that still gets underplayed - their version of Burt Bacharach's classic 'This guy's in love with you', is actually
in many ways much, much better than Herb Alpert's, catching the melancholy/yearning of the unbelievable chords in this song.
Woefully underplayed globally...
And then there's the rest of their material...they deserve a lot more credit...
