Album Review

Darren Aronofsky's second film Requiem for a Dream features a score from his Pi collaborator, former Pop Will Eat Itself vocalist/guitarist Clint Mansell. This time, Mansell blends his usual electronic/industrial leanings with brooding, evocative performances from the Kronos Quartet. As with Pi, Mansell's compositions play a large part in Requiem for a Dream, which is an adaptation of Hubert Selby's 1978 novel about the harrowing lives of four drug addicts. Impressively, Mansell's score manages to be appropriately dark and disturbing, as well as compulsively listenable.

Customer Reviews

Great movie, great album, but why so expensive?!

WOW. What a movie. The soundtrack is also awesome, and in fact makes the movie what it is. But one question - why is this $36 when the same album is on the US itunes store for $10?

Woahhh

The movie is amazing and makes you go woah... But this music is what does it. Lots of nerds like Lux Aeterna Cause it sounds lord of the ringsy or world of warcraft like. I like "The Beginning of the End" Listen to the sample, Then precisly when it stops listen to "Meltdown" Scary like the movie.

Really Good

really good music, espcially that song, Lux Aeterna, epic stuff!
