girls goin" off...
this album is a fantastic tribute to the song-writing talents of the Finn brothers. Some of the songs have been given the softer, more feminine touch and others have become more upbeat versions of the original. Particular faves. on this album are Missy H. "stuff & nonsense", Little Birdy's take on "six months in a leaky boat" and Amiel's breathy version of "one step ahead". Go girls...
I'm Still Waiting!
What's with the multiple re-releasing of this album? I'm one of the people that bought the original crippled version. No one from iTunes has contacted me to offer a fix. They've got my info, they know there's a problem, they do nothing but re-release a fixed-up version and act like nothing's wrong. Every time I try to send them a message using their support form using Safari (Apple's own browser), it doesn't work, forcing me to desperately post things like this. To be fair, I've redeemed a gift voucher with no problems since then, but their failure to fix the original problem is just plain rotten customer service. It's a pity that my experience of this excellent album has been tainted by iTunes.
Some beautiful songs by beautiful voices
Well with material like this it’s hard to go too far wrong. A number of the tracks are what you would expect of Finn brothers covers. While some are surprisingly experimental. “Four Seasons” and “Don’t dream it’s over” a gems in this fashion, while “Into temptation” will have your foot tapping non-stop. Amiel’s “One step ahead” is a bit of a stylistic diversion as is the rock mix of “Six Months”. Both tracks feel a little out of place on the album, but still worth a listen in their own right. Certainly more hit’s than misses and probably worth grabbing the lot. All tracks are complete in this download. WR
