Life Is A Red Wagon!!
What will become of wendys latest release. Like so many of her contemporary veterans the chances of a hit and a miss could go either way. I was absolutely taken by Wendys previous music "the day you went away" is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard as well as the stirring "Standing Strong" and the haunting "Beloved".. What I would like to throw at you is this. To me all the beautiful elements of all those songs have been welded together in the song "LIFE IS A RED WAGON" This song alone is worth the weight of this collection. Its stunning beautiful evocative reflective lyrics combined with Wendys angelic voice have produced another classic soon to be vintaged Wendy. I was moved to tears by this song. Once again I stress if you were to buy only one song on this it would have to be Life is a red wagon. What do you want me to say about the rest of the album. Well to me red wagon towers over all the other 12 tracks. thats not to say its a sublime album its not. wendy does a stunning version of the pretenders :Kid. she gets bluesy folky and rocky on here so there is abit for everyone. well done wendy>X
Stunning Wendy does it again!!
I have been a HUGE Wendy fan for many many years and this album definitely proves why Wendy is one of the best voices to come out of Australia. My fave on this album is 'Til You Come Back To Me' and my other picks would have to be 'Cherokee Louise', 'She', '99 Pounds', 'Fallen Angels' and 'Fruits of My Labour'. I was lucky enough to have Wendy sign my copy of the album and not only is she a brilliant performer she is also a very sincere, genuinely kind human being.
Wendy.......the best female talent in the world!
I brought this CD recently at a CD signing that Wendy did after one of her shows. Once again, she proves what an amazing talent she is. Her voice is just so beautiful. My picks on this CD are "Cherokee Louise" "Fallen Angels" and "99 Pounds". On this CD Wendy has chosen songs that mean something to her. This is her first independant release on her own Barking Bear label, so unfortunately probably won't have much commercial success. Definately worth buying, especially for Wendy fans.
