UNBELIEVABLE
For anyone who has grow up in australia in the 90's, Kate Ceberano was definately a household name! However its been a while since we heard originals from her. I admit that my interest was not instantly drawn to another album of covers from her however the moment it began to play i was hooked.. her jazzy take on these contemporary songs were something of genious and her originals are masterpieces! This album definately shows her as the formidable artist we all know and love... congratulations Kate!
Sublime
So smooth and sultry, Kate makes each of these songs her own - faithful to the originals, but leaving her on trademark on each of them. A brilliant interpreter, Kate again shows us why she's one of Australia's most skilled, revered and respected vocalists. Highlights include 'Live To Tell' (just divine), 'I'll Stand By You', and 'Stars and Satellites', which has become a fan favourite on tour. One can only hope Kate releases 'Songbird' on a future recording - was hoping it would make it onto this one. Nevertheless, this is Kate at her best.
On Top Of The Game
It is unsuprising that Kate Ceberano is releasing fresh, intelligent and very listenable music. In fact we expect it from one of Australias leading, and longest standing vocalists. And sure enough, once again, she delivers with these beautiful tracks. Hopefully a younger generation will be captivated by her 'Bedroom Eyes' with her cover of Snow Patrols 'Chasing Cars'. I saw her perform last year to a sold out show at Taronga Zoo, and she is undeniably fun, focused and on top of her game. Do yourself a favour - make sure you get to a live show. If you're between the age of 1 to 100, you will love this album.
