done to death

In my humble opinion this release offers nothing new or innovative or dare I say even remotely interesting. In fact, I find it incredibly safe and unadventurous and really quite depressing to listen to. Which is why I can't be bothered buying it. Listening to short samples was already quite enough for me.
In the last couple of years, this sound has been done over and over again and by now we should be moving forward not back. I think it is a real shame as I really was a fan of Pnau and was excited about the release of this album. I was hoping that it would be an improvement on their previous album, which also disappointed me. I refuse to get swept up by any hype and it makes not one bit of difference if it was a featured album on Triple J. We all know that radio DJ's are there to promote current releases. I don't ask anybody to agrree with me as it is only my opinion. I just find that lately most musicians seem to have their needles stuck in a groove and it might be time to come out of their comfort zones.

The title says it all ......Soft Universe

awesome

was triple js feature album 2 weeks ago & i loved it, its been the longest week waiting for the release today. Great album

Emotional return!

This new release from Pnau, 'Soft Universe' really lends itself to more emotional and vocal songs, far from their original sound in 'Sambanova', one of my personal favourites. It definitely does not contain as much of the punchy or heavily synthesised dance songs we've heard previously, but it is still an amazing album! Littlemore and Mayes really show off their songwriting skills in this release, providing peaceful and melodic tracks that are a treat to the ear!

Biography

Genre: Dance

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Pnau — featuring Brisbane school buddies Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes — were not the typical Aussie music act when they first hit the stage during the mid-'90s. Instead of rock, they played acid house and trance. In a changing climate down under, however, in which dance music was gaining strength, the duo swiftly won plenty of fans and respect. By the time Pnau were ready to put out their debut album, they had gravitated toward deep house, funk, and hip-hop with Latin and jazz flavors....
