INCREDIBLE!!
If you loved their first album then this is a must have! Highlights on this album are 'It's nice to know you work alone', 'Panic Switch', 'Sort of' and 'Catch and Release'.
Swoon is a masterpiece - catchy and all-consuming
Arguably one of the most unique and creative bands currently around and this album was even more impressive than the last. I've never heard a SSPU song that I didn't love - Brian Aubert's breathy vocals are captivating. Listen to 'The Royal We' and 'Catch and Release'.
Good stuff
Pikul was... ho hum. Carnavas was... good (with a few great tracks). Swoon is bordering on brilliant. I can't wait to hear what their NEXT album sounds like. I have to admit, while I'm a little sick of the comparison, there really is a similarity to early Smashing Pumpkins (we're talkin Gish/Siamese Dream days). The first few bars will sound familiar... but not in a way that is detrimental to their own unique sound. Nostalgic is a good description - early 90's grunge with a little pop thrown in for good measure!
