It may be a short album, but it certainly packs a punch. Beautiful lyrics and melodies spell out a haunting journey - Angela Little's voice shows remarkable vocal range, from the lows of "Like Rain" to the highs of "The Gatekeeper". I loved this album and it's celtic undertones, sometimes reserved, sometimes unabashedly audacious each song is a unique insight into this up and coming Aussie artist's world. The Secret Garden shouldn't remain a secret for long - well worth the buy.
An Australian singer well worth listening to.
After releasing some EPs (remember those!) and a couple of songs for the soundtrack of Baz Luhrman's 'Australia' (listen to the version of Waltzing Matilda' - brilliant orchestration) we now have the long awaited album from Ophelia, and it was well worth the wait in my opinion. I would suggest that she has a very bright future ahead of her if she can maintain the standards she has set for herself. Great album, have a listen.
Amazing voice that needs better material
Ophelia is blessed with a truly extraordinary voice. However, I cant help feel that the material on this album is not quite of the same caliber or intimacy as her voice or previous work. I can't wait to watch and listen to this artist grow and mature - hopefully with more fully formed material than found here.
