Good but could be better
Gosh, a whole 56 minutes worth!
Surely a few remixes and maybe some choice album cuts could have been added to this. I actually bought the physical CD and even the liner notes are disappointing- no overview of the career or even mentions of the albums that the tracks came from. So, although their music is great and varied in style etc, Im just disappointed that a best of is so scant in creating a retrospective of a great synth band.
Over 10 years of pure synth genius!
I can't believe it's been 10 years since I discovered Goldfrapp. I hopped on the 'Train' during the Black Cherry era, then went back and discovered Felt Mountain. From there it was clear that Alison and Will didn't like to repeat themselves witht heir albums, so it stands to reason that this collection is vast and accomodating to all Goldfrapp fans. The two extra tracks are nice and slow, and I look forward to seeing what Goldfrapp come up with next!
Excellent compilation but...
....I'm sure most fans agree in this digital age that they could create this list on the ipod or jukebox and just "purchase" the 2 new songs. Don't artists know their fans want something that makes it worth purchasing or at least collectible? A collection of rarities/unheard, a video compilation or special packaging? This smacks of laziness. Greatest hits are hard to sell these days and THE SINGLES is an excellent example of why.
