The Wild Hunt
Just when I thought the Tallest Man on Earth couldn't get any better... I should not have doubted, this album is a step forward in the right direction, the Wild Hunt still offers variations on his unique style. Best album of 2010, thank you Kristian Matsson.
The hunt is over
It may be a little premature, but I will be excited to see if any other album this year can top this little gem from the tallest man on earth. Sitting somewhere between Mumford & Sons and classic Bob Dylan, this swedish troubadour has a gift for writing pop-folk ditties that will have you not only humming along by the second verse, but will have you playing this album on high rotation for some time to come.
Simplistic at times in the music and melody, but the beauty created shows that sometimes less is more as is the case for The Tallest Man On Earth. Hear how one man playing one instrument can still be uplifting and have you bopping along, and then in a moment have you feeling something completely different. Never dull, the only issue I have is at 34 minutes, it is not long enough. but again, sometimes less is more. Stand out tracks are Burden of tomorrow and love is all. You won't be disappointed in this album.
The Tallest Man - Big shoes to fill
A highly original performer with lyrical and musical gifts that are rare and unique and sensual. Maybe a touch of Dylan but for me more like early John Prine with his vocal off center sound combined with the sounds of John Renbourn and Leo Kottke on guitar. A terrific album that will appeal to lovers of alternative sound and resonate on multiple plays. A strong contender for alternative 'album of the year.' Lets hope he matures into providing us with a legendary album. A terrific talent for lyrics and poetry. Sounds are eloquently moving and stand up to repeated plays.
