One of the best of 2009

Not sure if this quite matches up to some of the other releases this year, but it's surely a beautifully crafted album. The detail is meticulous. Particular standouts are Two Weeks, Cheerleader, Ready, Able, While You Wait For The Others and Foreground (quite possibly the most desolate but striking album closers since Videotape on In Rainbows). The only slight drawback is that it seems a little...artificial in parts, where their attention to detail has stripped the sound of an organic feel. But that's fairly hard to pinpoint - it is, otherwise, well worth a purchase and a gorgeous listen, especially on a cold day.

Lost in the Reverb

I was a little dissapointed with this album. Standout songs (two weeks & cheerleader) are overshadowed by wishy-washy production with too many instruments and voices saturated in reverb. The result is that so much is lost in the washed out sound that the songs loose clarity and impact. I know GB recorded some tracks in a church, that's fine but everything in moderation! Lots of potential here but over-production ruins what could have been an album with greater impact.

wow. you know nothing @ Alexsgardenfire.

They sound kind of like department of eagles because one of the lead singers (they have two if you didnt know) is the singer in department of egales. Yes they do sound kind of alike but for a good reason. Also department of eagles have there very distinctive sound ( they use alot more samples, and electronics). I think if you listened to department of eagles albums through really well you will see that they have heaps of differences. just thought i'd fill you in.

His homespun D.I.Y. effort took on new life with the help of multi-instrumentalist Christopher Bear, a Chicago native who had worked in a diverse range of musical...
