It's been a long time since a new single
John Mayer is back, his first studio release since "Say" in 2007. A fine and easily relaxing song about freedom saying "who are you to tell me what to do". It sounds alot like Stop This Train off Continuum and has a got catchy melody that you can hum all day. It's a departure from his usual more upbeat single releases, but really shows what he plans to do with his new album something different.
Overall a fine return to form for John Mayer.
First single from battle studies
'Who Says' is in John Mayer's own words more of a warm hug than a monster single that comes out and blows you away, but don't worry JM fans the rest of the album does just that.
Who says is not a song about getting high, it's a song about getting away from it all. John said himself that anyone can discover this by the time they get to "it's a been long time since 22".
The CD Battle studies comes out on Nov 17/18 and is a songwriter's dream, a james taylor-style opus. Big songs to savour include 'war of my life', 'hearbreak warfare, 'half of my heart' (with taylor swift) and the classics 'perfect lonely' and 'friends, lovers or nothing'. Having been luck enough to hear these tracks I can say that it yet another remedy for heartbreak and sorrow, and thanks again to John Mayer for sharing his musical talent with the world.
The guitar master is back.
I have seen JM live and I can tell you. It's not the studio mixing that makes him sound amazingly talented. Its pure skill. No doubt about it. He is seriously going to go down as one of the best musicians ever. His singing range and friking amazing guitar licks is fanominal to watch and listen too.
This new single proves and shows his guitar ability and his skills to change his vocal tone from high to low and not be out of place and make the song work. This is a great song that captures Mayer's tallent. I would recomend to all. Its a very nice chill out song and to remenise on.
