Description

AustLII for iOS is the official App released by AustLII.

AustLII puts the power of Australia’s most popular online free-access resource for legal information right into the palm of your hand. Have access to law on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch wherever you are.

Browse legislation from the Commonwealth and from every Australian State and Territory, and cases from over 140 courts, tribunals and boards. Search over four million documents with the power of AustLII’s SINO search engine.

AustLII for iOS resizes content from the AustLII website to fit the exact dimensions of your device’s screen, resulting in an optimised reading experience. And when you’ve found what you’re looking for, you can email it to anyone right from within the App.

AustLII for iOS requires a data connection to load content. Use of the App does not constitute the provision of legal advice. Lacking, but still amazing

As a law student, this application has been very helpful for cases on the go. It's clear, reads well and, after using the website for so many years, it's good to have it somewhere close. I do have a few suggestions, however:

1) implementation of law cite. As a law student, law cite has always come in handy to find journal articles and cases which relate to a current project.
2) addition of law journals. I've always relied on law journals for a general feel of legal theory. The addition of such would be even more helpful to many law students around Australia.
3) "offline mode" would be helpful, as well. Just so we, being people to do with the law but don't have the cash (or are very hip-pocket conscious) to fork out a couple of dollars for 3G, can at least have access to the last viewed document.
4) which leads me to my next point: saving/bookmarking of cases and (if implemented) journals. Definitely a necessity.
5) suitability to ipad is lacking, which would be good to see updated.

Otherwise, and aside from my critical (hopes and) views, this is a great (and free!) app that is helpful to a very large number of people. Well done. :)

Fantastic!!

Very useful to always have legislation in your back pocket.

Would be helpful to have a favourites page where we could tag the legislation we use most instead of going into it by jurisdiction and letter every time.

Well done for this app!
