Description

You deserve a break. Easy break reminders, with flexible customization if you want it.

It is very easy to fall into bad habits when using a computer for hours on end. You care about what you are doing, so can sometimes push yourself too far, or over-strain yourself. The human body isn't built to sit in one position for endless hours, gripping a mouse or typing on the keyboard. Dejal Time Out is here to help. It will gently remind you to take a break on a regular basis.

Time Out comes with two kinds of breaks: a "Normal" break, typically for 10 minutes every hour, so you can move about and relax, plus a "Micro" break: a very brief pause of typically 15 seconds every 15 minutes, so you can remember not to tense up too much for long periods. You can change, disable or remove either kind of break if desired, and add new kinds of breaks, e.g. fixed lunch or afternoon breaks.

You can configure how long each kind of break lasts, and how long between breaks, and the breaks can be set to count backwards when you take a natural break, e.g. when you go away from your computer.

The app features customizable break themes, with several variations to show during breaks. These themes can be edited if desired, using standard HTML.

While in a break, a progress bar shows how long till it is over, and buttons are available to postpone or skip the break if you can't be interrupted right then.

What's more, you can optionally perform various actions before, during or after breaks. You can display a notification, play a sound, speak some text, run a script, and more.

Continues to improve my health...

I don’t normally write reviews but felt compelled to here because this app has made a genuine difference to my well-being. It has helped me do what I know is crucial to anyone who like me works 8 hours a day in front of a computer screen - take breaks and move the body. This app makes it easier for me to take care of my body and for that I am very grateful. I also am grateful that the developer allows free use but encourages financial support. You don’t need to pay anything to use and get all the benefits you need. I think this is a really inviting mix of “use the app” and “I’d be very glad if you could support me financially as I continue to develop it”. I supported the developer financially because I wanted to share my appreciation for his work (I barely actually use any of the advanced features because the standard features are so comprehensive for what I need).

Thank you David for a wonderful app

Give yourself a break and you may find you are actually more productive

Great app. Much needed in the fast paced tecchnology age.
This helps me a lot if I get distracted and the break is a good time to remember what I was supposed to be doing.
I heard about this app through a book: Thrive by Arianna Huffington

I just wanted to mention… I saw someone else give a 2 star rating and spoke of this app requiring a subscription. This is not exactly true: you do not have to make a reoccurring payment / ‘subscription’ to use all the features. All the features are available to test for 1 hour, then if you want to continue to use the extra features you are given 3 options of payment support. Now, these are one time payments, you don’t have to keep on paying to have access to the extra features, you give support once and the features are permeant. You have an option to give more support if you wish but don’t have to.

Thanks for the kind words, and for helping to clarify the supporter model for people.

Does everything you hope it would and more

This is an excellent app. It handles multiple and recurring break timers in a way which is thoroughly customisable and easy to interact with.

The mindfulness option to disable buttons for a period of time is a game-changing feature. I find 15 seconds is the only cut-off I need to actually consider taking a break when I’m in the middle of an intense train of thought. Otherwise, I will learn to click ‘Skip’ as I do with virtually any similar app.

The option for a website theme is another huge plus. The ‘Arkadia’ theme is great for relaxation, while the ‘Muscles’ theme gives me simple activities in my exercise break.

Lastly, I must applaud the developer on two things. They have shown a clear dedication to creating a feature-rich comprehensive product for a very simple conceit. All the features I would want and more are there. They have also provided a novel scheme for donations which respects the customer by not barring off special features they’ve paid for in the past.
