'All the ingredients of a satisfying country story are nestled in this heart-warming tale.' AUSTRALIAN WOMEN'S WEEKLY
Greer O’Reilly needs to start over. Her professional success belies private sadness and domestic overload. She’s torn between her career and motherhood. Her partner of twelve years has left her. And up ahead is her new home - a beautiful though neglected blueberry orchard in the hills of north-east Victoria.
But when she and her six-year-old daughter Sophie arrive at the property to take possession, there’s an unforeseen complication - the former owner, 81-year-old artist and jazz lover Charlie Chandler, refuses to move out. Charlie is dying and desperate to spend his last days in his old home.
With Greer at the beginning of her new life, and Charlie at the end of his, the unlikely pair soon form a close bond. One that will offer the strength and inspiration Greer needs – because the next twelve months will either make or break her . . .
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Glenna Thomson spent her childhood in an apple orchard, and many years later she moved to a mixed cattle and blueberry farm in northeastern Victoria. So it’s no surprise that her debut novel captures the changing seasons of the orchardist’s life so vividly. Thomson also conveys the flux of human life through the hopes and struggles of her three central characters: single mother Greer O’Reilly, her six-year-old daughter Sophie and an elderly blueberry farmer who brings a new and poignant perspective to their lives.

Blitzed it.
I couldn’t read this book fast enough. It was the way it was written that had me speeding through the chapters. Yes it had the cancer issue but so much more as the characters were thrown together, a race against time with the orchard, a new beginning & taking that leap of faith. Brilliantly written & can only hope her next published novel “Stella & Margie” gives me as much buzz as this did. Enjoy or forever hold your peace.
Loved it.
