Publisher Description

In steamy northern Queensland, Conor is rebuilding his shattered life. Working at Cooktown's youth centre has given him the chance to make a difference again, and the opportunity to flirt with Dr Kristy Dark. The local GP is hiding her own secrets and struggling to raise her feisty teenage daughter alone.
When a severe cyclone menaces the coast, threatening to destroy everything in its path, tensions come to a head – and the weather is not the only danger. Cut off from the world and with her life on the line, Kristy will have to summon her courage and place her trust in Conor, or they'll both lose someone they love.

Fantastic compelling read

Another great book from Helene, weaving a story around such an important issue of domestic violence, she captured life in Cooktown so perfectly and I absolutely loved all the characters! It’s a must read!

Page turner suspence

My admiration for Helene Young just increased out of all proportion with her latest book "Northern Heat". From page one the characters flow without confusion, the story line reaches a crescendo intermixed with poignant issues, not sufficiently related in the media, adding to the struggles in everyday life of human relationships. To me if the author can through words describes scenes and make the reader feel as though they too are actually battling the storm, then success is inevitable. This book has it all. And if you have read her other novels then do so and be prepared to get lost in the pages.
