Publisher Description

From the bestselling author of Family Secrets, with new novel At the End of the Day out now.

"[A Month of Sundays] demonstrates the capacity of a book to act as a mirror to the soul and an eloquent guide to a more contented future." Weekend Australian

For over ten years, Ros, Adele, Judy and Simone have been in an online book club, but they have never met face to face. Until now...

Determined to enjoy her imminent retirement, Adele invites her fellow bibliophiles to help her house-sit in the Blue Mountains. It's a tantalising opportunity to spend a month walking in the fresh air, napping by the fire and, of course, reading and talking about books.

But these aren't just any books: each member has been asked to choose a book which will teach the others more about her. And with each woman facing a crossroads in her life, it turns out there's a lot for them to learn, not just about their fellow book-clubbers, but also about themselves.

Liz Byrski has written a beautiful novel about the joy and comfort reading a good book can bring to us all.

PRAISE FOR LIZ BYRSKI

"Byrski...is by turns turbulent and tender. Her characters are portrayed as...warm, funny flawed heroes grappling with the cards destiny has dealt them." West Australian

"...reflective, warm and wise..." Weekly Times

"Liz Byrski has a guaranteed cheer squad for her novels which champion...women taking charge of their life and growing old creatively." Daily Telegraph

"This is Byrski's 10th novel. She's a writer who clearly knows her readers as intimately as she knows her characters. There is something soothing about the way A Month of Sundays meanders around and about these women's lives, gently prising open old wounds and locating in the bonds they form - cemented by the books they read - a degree of healing." Weekend Australian

Daughter of a great reader ,

A Month of Sunday’s to write but only one to read

As a book club member (our book club is 40 years old this year) I really enjoyed this novel. It has lovely character development and truly reflects the emotional “unknowingness” that book club members can have even after meeting monthly for many years. I really wanted to keep reading to see how each woman tackled their future. The simple resolution, even though predictable, was satisfying and has left me pondering over ‘my’ book.

If you don’t understand this review you may just need to read the book.

A delightful read.

Relationships

Loved this book , particularly the four legged character. Using animals in a story always seems a good way to engage characters and events for me in a book as they are a real and relevant part of our lives. Thanks for a cozy read.
