Plot Summary
Mere seconds before the earth is to be demolished by an alien construction crew, journeyman Arthur Dent is swept off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher penning a new edition of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

It's just a movie . . . .
Forget the over analytical "Douglas" crowd - just watch the movie for what it is, a fun rainy day/veg out/Friday night flick. If you want the book, go to the library.

This movie is Awsum Better plot than the book
Only avoid if you love the book. Otherwise, it's awesome.
I watched this before reading it, which is unusual for me. After reading it, I felt it didn't stick to the book, but it wouldn't have made much sense if it did. I'd recommend it for anyone wanting a night's light entertainment, but if you're expecting it to be verbatim for the book, don't bother.
