Freshly minted Aussie citizen Damien Leith started out life as a native-born Dubliner (the lilting Irish accent remains), and tried his luck with bands on home turf (Leaf, Releaf) and Sydney (Revelate) before having a crack, goaded on by friends, at Australian Idol in 2006, which . . . he won. Of course, you knew that already, so here's a chance to get better acquainted with his output since that breakthrough victory. Debut single "Night of My Life" showcases the gorgeous falsetto that melted hearts and secured votes during Idol, and his star quality never fails to captivate whether he's singing originals ("Come to Me," "Song for Jarvis," "Beautiful") or covers like Donovan's "Catch the Wind" and Bread's "Guitar Man." And it sounds like the future may add a touch of heft to Leith's natural delicacy and sensitivity, judging by "To Get to You," a soaring, rock-driven highlight from 2009's third studio album, Remember June.
