  • I'm gonna take you on a journey through all the old tunes that made us wanna start a band, through to music we love now.

    • 1. "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals: "This is the first song we all learned to play on piano about 13 years ago."
    • 2. "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder: "Go Stevie! This is off the first 12" we ever bought! It was $0.50. So many good memories of listening to this song."
    • 3. "The Real Me" by The Who: "The Who were a big influence to us early on. We loved their passion and energy. What a corker of a track this one is; so raw and loud. The best bass-playing in the world."
    • 4. "In the City" by The Jam: "Underrated band. An early British punk group, but one of the few who had great lyrics to back up the riffs."
    • 5. "Private Universe" by Crowded House: "A bit of Kiwi heritage here. We used to play this song live for a while and rock it up."
    • 8. "Carry On" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young: "Ooh, I chose this one because the harmonies are mind-boggling. So much talent in one band it 's a little frightening."
    • 9. "Hawkmoon 269" by U2: "Epic song from a great period of U2. I love the lyrics on this song, amazingly simple."
    • 10. "Stockholm Syndrome" by Muse: "What an intense track. I 've liked Muse since their first record but they really stepped it up on this album."
    • 11. "Friday's Dust" by Doves: "Great band. We sometimes play their records before we go onstage, seems to put us in the right mood for making music."
