- 1. "Robot Rock / Oh Yeah (Live)" by Daft Punk: "This song stomps you to the ground like some gangster in a Scorsese film. There are upwards of a dozen different beats and variations all with the same evil riff."
- 2. "Family Affair (Single Version)" by Sly & the Family Stone: "I once heard There’s a Riot Goin’ On described as the soundtrack for a hangover. I couldn’t describe it any better and I completely agree. For this reason this was the soundtrack to half my life touring our first two records. There is something about the ratty recording and the layer upon layer upon layer of rhythms that fascinates the ear. One of my all-time favourite records and this song is the cornerstone."
- 3. "When the Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin: "You are either a Led Zeppelin fan or you don’t have the sense to love something elemental. These are forces of nature that we are dealing with here. Some of the songs are like monuments. “When the Levee Breaks” is no exception. Any woman I have been with loved Zeppelin, so maybe there is something in that, too."
- 4. "You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire (Without Interlude)" by Queens of the Stone Age: "So you wanna lose it a little bit in your head? You want to feel like a baby that just got the sh*t shaken out of it? This is the one you are looking for. It’s a pile driver of a song and I mean that as a complement."
- 5. "Take a Long Line" by The Angels: "It’s tight, ballsy, heavy and fast, like a freight train, with a middle eight from another planet that you never saw coming. This song IS rock and roll and distinctly Australian too. This is a song that gets heavy rotation before we walk onstage some nights, because the energy of it just collects you. There’s no time to think!"
- 6. "Cretin Hop" by Ramones: "I could listen to the Ramones for a week. I find them hypnotic. The guitar, the voice, the monotonous brilliance. “Cretin Hop” ticks all the Ramones’ boxes. Gabba Gabba Hey."
- 7. "This Is Radio Clash" by The Clash: "The Clash are one of my favourite groups. They were forever evolving and never scared of trying different musical styles. When they did so, the results were always wonderful."
- 8. "Breaking Glass" by David Bowie: "This tune from Bowies’ Berlin years is one of the best tunes from his and Eno’s krautrock opus, Low"
- 9. "Race for the Prize" by The Flaming Lips: "I love the drum sound on this song. It’s incredible. This band never does anything twice and always thrills."
- 10. "Ripped Open By Metal Explosions" by Galt MacDermot: "I think this has to be the best song title I’ve ever heard. It’s my top song by composer Galt MacDermot. He is a god in the hip-hop world because of his highly sampled tunes. You can easily tell why. Enjoy."
- 11. "Rattled By the Rush" by Pavement: "This was the tune that made me fall in love with this band! They continue to be one of my favourite groups and have been so since I was 15 years old."
- 12. "I Put a Spell On You" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins: "The spookiest song ever. Such a solid rhythm section and what a voice!"

A Great Selection
Jet knows how to rock, on record and live. This blend of tunes is wide reaching and intelligent. You can see the fingerprints of these tunes in Jet. Spell is quite like Tom Waits and the Zep track and comment is spot on. They do like the bad production. Isn't it a laugh that bands spend thousands buying a guitar and Valve amps to rough them up with bad production. Good to see a nod to the Angels; another Aussie group.
