Legend has it that Erskineville three-piece Wolfmother fashioned a lasso out of thread stolen from underpants that once belonged to Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, and used it to ensnare the leviathans of classic metal (Sabbath, Zeppelin, Purple), whose secrets they were then able to learn. Thus equipped, the band set about reminding the world that tautly delivered, quasi-mythical stoner rock has a limitless shelf-life, and — when funked up by a MSTRKRFT remix ("Woman") — can transport club-bound dance hounds to a state of sweet delirium. One eponymous album and six singles into the band's career, bassist/keyboard player Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett resigned (as of August 2008), leaving frontman Andrew Stockdale to seek out fresh backing and continue the legend that is Wolfmother.
