Rev Rob Bell's Church [Author of Velvet Elvis]
This gathering cannot be put into a box and labeled typical Christianity because it is SO much more, it is the Church. Without a doubt this is one of the best podcasts online. Never know what to expect and its relevant. The Church has a passion to be the Church not a politcal force. With the Ethos of Love Wins Rob Bell and others teach and inspire while keeping Jesus as the focus. Fellowship and study of Biblical doctrine is a spiritual discipline and not God in itself - this is an awesome way to get connected with the body of Christ if someone has been beaten by doctrine and is looking for guidance on the Journey they hunger to recieve from Jesus or learn more about the Bible. Its not perfect - but thats what I love about it.
Paradigm Shifts Are Uncomfortable
One of the things I like most about Rob Bell's work is that at the least it challenges you to think outside of what you think you know. He does this using context and critical thinking about traditionally accepted teaching about the person and nature of God. Keep us on our toes Rob!
Bible based?
I have not downloaded this podcast. In all reality, my internet downloads are too limited. However, as a note for all, i have been shown and intently listened to/watched many 'Nooma's. I can, however, only recommend them for critiquing and studying, as they are non-bible based and very humanistic. In fact, of all the episodes i have watched, only in one is the doctrine of sin mentioned. And in many, the death and resurrection of Jesus is missing. I am by no means saying not to download this podcast, i am merely encouraging you to go back to the bible, and thoroughly check everything you hear against the authoritative word of God. =)
