ExplicitPlatforms Episode 28 – The Retro Show | Hosted by: Josh Philpott and Dave Kozicki with David McVay, Nathan Lawrence, Grant Noy and Denny Markovic Platforms is a gamers podcast by gamers. The podcast is recorded live on Ustream with chat interaction so come and join the fun as your host candidly discuss the latest in the gaming world. The podcast is uncensored, explicit, honest and very non 'PC'. This week, something completely different. Platforms takes a trip down memory lane and with the help of a large panel of guests we reminisce about games and gaming systems that we have loved from the past. Everyone talks about their five favourite moments in games and there is even a show and tell section that is best seen on video, which you can watch here. (NB: Due to the chaotic nature of this many guests and the fact that mics had to be shared etc. the sound quality in parts is not as good as usual.) News This week is kept to an absolute minimum but the R18+ rating does go before the Attorneys-General in May, 'Gears of War 3' announced and 'Syndicate' might be making a comeback. Customer Reviews
A podcast of games and glory... mainly games though.
Platforms is a show about three men who love games, and have no problem expressing that as verbosely as possible. Dave 'Beardy' McVay runs their tech beautifully. With virtually no hiccups or major screwups, and he also offers his rather expansive knowledge of all matters technical. Josh is the closest thing to a straight man, although in this show that's a relative term. He keeps the show on track, without letting it become dull. Dave Kozicki is the largest element of chaos in the show, having a tendency to derail the show from almost every topic they can think of, but their tangents are at least as fun to listen to as their news, so it's almost always welcome. They also run a live chatroom alongside the show when it is filmed live, with anyone welcome to come in and interact with them during the show, which adds even more chaos to the blend.
The three of them do their thing without bias, having no sponsors beyond the fans who feel like throwing them money, and it shows in their brutally honest reviews. They bounce off each other easily, giving a nice feeling of camaraderie to the show. If you're looking for a upstanding, family friendly show however, then you should stay as far away as possible, because they pull no punches in their discussions, with political correctness being left a faint memory in the collective consciousness of the viewers.
If you can stomach their explicit nature, and occasionally disturbed sense of humor however, you will love this show. They usually strike a chord with their gamer audience, and are easy to connect with as an audience. They know their stuff and are informative without ever being dull. Watch this thing. Now.
Excellent
An excellent gaming podcast. Intelligent, funny and best of all, carries an explicit tag. So Good.
Riotous fun
An uncompromising live show/podcast on gaming that doesn't pull its punches, yet still has the class to give credit where it's due. Josh, Dave and David put on a chaotic, but exceptionally well presented show and have great chemistry and a robust sense of ribaldry. I look forward to hearing what the lads have to say every week!
