Brilliant, brilliant stuff.
One of the most entertertaining podcasts/radio programs out there. Wonderful storytelling; a marvellous weekly examination of the human condition. I love it and am completely addicted. Can't wait for each new instalment...keep up the great work, Ira... from an Aussie-Yank-o-phile...;-)
Best Podcast available
The stories this show tells never cease to interest me. Even topics that sound somewhat boring, like a story on the American economy and how it collapsed, have me listening intentively. No other show can do that. Whoever is in charge of the editing for these shows, is really good at their job. It's perfect combination of narration, a soft soundtrack and interviews have me intregued. Just give one episode a try, you'll be hooked!
Pure laconic beauty
Wow. What stories, and what a way to get the people to tell them; the interviewer is barely present, their influence negligible, leaving the subject to spill the story in their own words, in their own unique, deeply personal way. This American Life is a work of art. Every hour is a joy, and I'm always entertained, often saddened, doubtless a little pensive, and always disappointed when each episode finishes; after all, that means it's a week until I get to listen to another. Well done, WBEZ Chicago, for one of the best radio programmes I've ever heard. Just superb.
