Album Review
To Lose My Life... is the debut album from West London post-punk outfit White Lies, who have been compared to Joy Division and Arcade Fire. Received positively and slated as a contender for the Mercury Music Prize, the album was produced by Ed Buller and Max Dingel, who have previously worked with the Killers and Glasvegas. Verfrissend nieuw en origineel 80's en toch 2009 !
Echo and The Bunnymen, Tears for Fears is wat het naar verwant is, maar dit album is verbazend verfrissend in een gekende stijl en in zijn contrasterend optimisme bij zijn soms wel donkere teksten. Het minimalisme van synths, vocals, soms erg mooi uitgewerkte baslijnen en afwisselende drums maakt dit een schitterend album. Beter dan de Editors. De sterkte van de zware vocals is een verbetering na alle 'hoge' keane en snow patrol. Tof dat je na dertig jaar CD's kopen een dergelijk album kunt binnenhalen. Echte aanrader. Volwassen sound voor een debuutalbum. Geen vijf sterren omdat ik denk dat ze ooit een perfect album uitbrengen.

White Lies=Editors
Zou niet zeggen dat White Lies beter is dan Editors, maar neemt niet weg dat beide uitmuntende bands zijn die zich een weg naar de top wagen.
