Customer Reviews
Crazy. Seriously.
This album really is insane, and I mean that in the most sincere way possible. Trip Lee, who is only 20 years old & is the youngest on Reach, can be seen at par with the rest of rappers in Holy Hip Hop, even better. From collabos with songbirds J.R. & Cam, to Gospel rapper extraordinaire shai linne to his labelmates Tedashii, Sho Baraka, Flame & Lecrae... from the few Southern bangers, to the soothing slow-sounds, to his experiementing with East Coast/Midwest beats, .. to his flawless delivery of the overall message, Trip Lee out-did himself this time. If you loved 'If They Only Knew', prepare to love '20/20'. He pulls it off, even if there aren't that many trunk rattling beats. He's grown as an artist, and the message makes you want to dig in, it makes you want to know God more, because if you don't see Him 20/20, you want to. 'Superstar' shows his utter humility in the midst of it all. Sometimes you forget who this is coming from, because it is so Spiritually sound. He is the epitome of the Scripture, "Do not let them look down upon you because you are young." in Timothy. My favorites are.. well all of it! Some that stood out to me & grew on me was 'Who is Like Him', 'Satisfaction', 'Relief', which actually reminds me of a old 70's soul joint. It's different that the Trip we know, but it's really nice. 'Come Close' reminds me of a Sunday school film, which is funny because that's the point, telling the story of God. Sho Baraka is very animated on this track, it's funny. 'Eyes Open' is amazing.. J.R. was an awesome choice vocally. It helps you to thank God for the Spiritual eyes we've been given & for God opening them up. 'Behold the Spirit' reminds me of 'Behold the Christ' on "If They Only Knew", clarifying characteristics of the Spirit of God. 'We Told 'Em' has this hot, Arabic or Indian synth that speaks to the Christian about the fact that we take too much refuge in the church but sometimes we don't come out. The message struck me. 'True Security' was the best instrumentally to me. It has a sort of jazz, R&B feel that sets the mood for the song. It really makes you think and realize the people around you that we must remember to pray for. 'Hip Hop' is one my favorites. I can bump that track all day! It's about it's name sake & how it's a tool for ministry & not something that runs him. 'Cling To You' is a great comfort song. shai linne is stellar as always. 'Intimacy' with Diamone is really nice, but it has yet to grow on me a bit. 'Who He Is' is something that can be bumped on the radio, because it just has that appeal. Cam did his thing on it, Lecrae too. Overall, GET IT. It's amazing! I run this CD everyday since I got it. Five stars. It's not the same Trip Lee you know, .. and that's essentially a good thing.
Trip Lee ROCKS!
