iTunes Review

As a classically trained vocalist, Annie Lennox is a natural for chorale music. This collection of holiday music is a deep, well-crafted set of songs that range from the obvious (“Silent Night,” “The First Noel”) to the less traveled —“Lullay Lullay (Coventry Carol)” is a heavy track that tells the tale of King Herrod. “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” throws a middle-eastern burn into the age-old classic. “See Amid the Winter’s Snow” features an emotionally rich vocal. Producer Mike Stevens adds a 30-piece orchestra and the African Children’s Choir, who are featured prominently on the French carol, “Il est ne le divin Enfant.” “As Joseph Was a Walking” adds a joyous Celtic arrangement. “Universal Child,” Lennox’s lone original composition, is a solid piano number that falls in well with the traditional material. Fact is, these tunes have withstood the test of time and still contain great emotional pull. A phenomenal singer such as Annie Lennox only makes it more obvious.

Anouther Outstanding Effort From Annie Lennox

Cudos to Annie Lennox for unashamedly recording a Christmas album contianing traditional christian Christmas music. This woman's voice has always been nothing short of wonderful - and she does each traditional tune great credit with her usual vocal aplomb. I particularly am fond of the traditional british arrangement of Oh Little Town of Bethelehem -- which doesn't have the dreary tone of the usual tune sung here in North America. Where Lennox takes liberty with arrangements, she still remains true to the intent of the song and message. Covernty Carol is very much out there in this manner -- each verse sung in a manner which reflects the specific lyrics of the verse. Magnificent.

The most touching Christmas album in years

The arrangements are at once daring, original and heavenly, full of fresh ideas. The choice of songs is impeccable and the energy emanates of true leadership. Amazing and honest.

Finally!! It's About Time!

This is an enchanting Christmas album. The track selections are amazing. Annie's voice is haunting and powerful! a must buy for everyone this season. One of the best Christmas album of all time.
