Album Review

African Guitar Summit was a project created in 2004 under the guidance of a Canadian CBC radio station that invited several Canadian-based African-born musicians to do a series of collective recordings and performances. All nine performers were selected based on their personal interpretations of guitar music of their respective native countries, which included G****a, Rwanda, Ghana, Kenya, and Madagascar. The material for African Guitar Summit was conceived and recorded in just three days, and the newly formed project followed through with a number of well-received performances. African Guitar Summit proved successful with world music lovers and brought the project the 2005 Juno Award for the World Music Album of the Year. In 2006 a sequel to the album followed, and it again brought the band a Juno Award in the same category.

The best surprize of 2005

I came across this album really by fluke and it was the best surprize of 2005. I play guitar and have an open ear to any new music out there and this album caught my attention right away. This album can uplift any cloudy mood despite the fact I can't always understand the language. This album became my travel music in my car or on my bike and is linked to my favorite summer memories of 2005.

Excellent Relaxing African Music/Instrumental

This is a GREAT album....but a few songs just stand out above the rest namely Djarabi, and Cette Vie ...and on the next album after this one is (African Guitar Summit II) a song called Gogha also is just a pleasure to listen to.... especially with a glass of red wine in hand and good friends to share time with....Some one not familiar with these tunes will always comment...."what is this music?....who is it?" ....You may not be interested in the entire album but DO download at least the three songs I have listed...

A piece of sunshine

Perfect for a dark, cold, rainy day...
