A 21st Century Classic Album

American Slang builds and expands on the tremendously powerful album "The '59 Sound".
The album's sound is much more diverse and expansive in styling than previous albums while keeping true to the classic sounds that they've nurtured and were weaned on.
For new fans and the Fanatics who love The Gaslight Anthem they will not be disappointed.
New singalongs to shoutout to include "The Diamond Church Street Choir", "She Loves You", "Stay Lucky" and "We Did It When We Were Young."
This album is brisk, sharp and powerful while taking The Gaslight Anthem's sound into a much broader, bolder and more mature direction.
It doesn't get much better than this.
An excellent album to own.
Try to see these guys LIVE.
You will not be disappointed.

Best Band Out There!

Seriously, these guys have what it takes! Every single song on this CD is just amazing. From "Bring it On" to "She Loves You" to the quiet but deep "We Did It When We Were Young", great lyrics, chrods and you can really sense the passion in Brian Fallon's voice... you cannot go wrong by buying this album.

Best Album of 2010 Thus Far

From a band that is influenced from musicians like Springsteen, Tom Petty, Tom Waits and certainly The Clash, comes American Slang, the third full-length album from the Jersey boys. The Gaslight anthem in the past has focused on a keeping a fast pace, with some execptions of course, but on this outing, the poetry in Fallon's song-writing is finally seen without any sort of distraction. Both Sink or Swim and the '59 Sound were works of art comparable to most post-2000 bands, this takes the band to another level. Brian Fallon is able to show off his voice more, and Alex Rosamilia was let loose on this one, with unforgettable riffs on tracks like the Spirit of Jazz and Old Haunts. All things considered, a great album, proving that there is still room for an honest, hard working band.

Years Active: '00s, '10s

The Gaslight Anthem rose out of the fertile punk scene of New Brunswick, NJ, flaunting a unique style that melded the influence of Bruce Springsteen, Wilson Pickett, and various Motown groups with the rough, emotional grit of Hot Water Music and Jawbreaker.
