Album Review

Released two years after the departure of founding member Jason Lancaster, Anywhere But Here is Mayday Parade's first album for a major label. Lancaster wrote the bulk of the band's debut — the very album that helped secure Mayday Parade's contract with Atlantic — but his former bandmates prove to be capable songwriters in their own right, as Anywhere But Here wields a radio-ready mix of emo anthems and sensitive ballads. David Bendeth, a hyper-prolific producer who rarely works with bands outside of the emo/punk realm, lends his signature polish to the effort, resulting in an album that's both familiar and marketable.

Wish it was a 5/5!

I wish I could give Mayday's new album a 5/5 but I unfortunately can't :( Their last album was beyond a 5/5 and this album is very good but just a little bit of a let down. A lot of the choruses sound kind of the same. However, Mayday does continues to amaze us with their amazing lyrics. So if you're a big Mayday fan, like me, you'll buy it!

Come To Winnipeg!

I love Mayday Parade, their lyrics are just awesome. So please Mayday Parade come to Winnipeg!

A Step Down, But Worth Buying

This is a really good album, but it's a step down from A Lesson In Romantics. This was to be expected though, as they lost a major musical influence in their band that they had throughout writing their first album. Taking that into account, Anywhere But Here is a remarkable album. However, as great as all these songs are, they all sound alike. And, perhaps, some songs like Kids In Love sound less mature than others like Still Breathing and I Swear This Time I Mean It. All in all though, Anywhere But Here is an album worth buying.
