In the age of the single, here is an album where every song turns into your favourite song. Get this album and then get the first bass lions album if you don't have it.
Great album from a true indie crew
The Bass Lions are an extremely talented group that play some fabulous songs. This album and their earlier one (More than Islands) form a set that is worth listening to whole. Dynamite Quartz kicks things off with a powerful, catchy and evocative song that seems to question commitment in a world of transience. Probably my favorite is You Brought the Bass which has a sophisticated and intricate rhythm across all the instruments and tells a story of insincere relationships contrasted to "the one" who "brought the bass" -- what would music be without it! Perfect Cuts and New Intuition are a bit quirky, but they lead into the playful "Goodbye mouth" and haunting "Varicose Veins" and the final, tender but tortured, "Oh God Come Back". A powerful little album. Buy it. Listen. Here's hoping we get more from these guys.
