Masterful guitarist, lyricist

Every song on "Broken" is different, and most are a fabulously prepared dishes, delightful layers of visceral guitar, engaging rythm, fascinating lyrics, together creating succulent music that you'll listen to over and over again. Doucet brings in some new instruments in this album -- trumpet, strings and more add great flavour that doesn't seem out of place. It's not as raw and rockin' as his Veal album "The Embattled Hearts", but "Broken" stands on its own. See him live if you can--it gets even better with more improvisation and acoustic versions.

So good.

After hearing only a bit of "Emily, Please" on CBC radio - I was instantly hooked. I bought this album a day later to discover the gem it is. Every song is different and leads you through the album nicely. Great lyrics and guitar playing throughout. Listen to "Emily, Please" or "One too many" if you need a teaser to get you hooked.
