Love this song
This is a song about brothers. It is a song about the emotion of having a family member go off to war, but unlike most songs, it does not have a chorus, which makes the song work better for me than songs which seem to be all about the chorus and not the story. The instrumental ending of the song is the best part because it allows the listener time to reflect on their own memories and feelings that the song evokes. The production is brilliant - the drumming holds a perfect tension throughout the song while the emotion flows. The story is true for so many brothers these days but the emotional experience is for all family members to relate to. A great song to take country music back to the common roots of a people's feelings about life and family.
