After following this process on CBC Radio 2, I was extremely pleased with their artist selections and was waiting in anticipation for the finished product. The songs on this compilation are an amazing piece of Canadiana. I would imagine the average person might look to cherry pick a track or two but I had no issues with throwing down for the whole record. Notable standouts by Hey Rosetta, Jay Sparrow, Deep Dark Woods and Joel Plaskett.....great job CBC and great job Canadian songwriters!
WOW! Diversity, yet a common thread that is distinctly Canadian
I am thoroughly impressed with our Canadian artists' ability to be given a topic and a tight deadline, and then to delivered such inspired works as these 13 songs. I'm partial to David Myles, and loved his approach on "Don't Drive Through" - it's a song the whole province will be singing along to in no time! He's done NB proud. And I was thrilled to discover the gorgeous creativity of Lucie Idlout, along with the beautiful composition of the Deep Dark Woods' track. Thanks to the CBC for a smart, entertaining project. Can we do this again next year?
