Album Review

Greatest Hits is an excellent, thorough 14-track collection containing all of Journey's big hits, from 1978's "Wheel in the Sky" to 1986's "I'll Be Alright Without You." Although the songs aren't presented in chronological order and a handful of minor hits ("Suzanne," "Walks Like a Lady") aren't included, it doesn't matter, since every essential Journey single — "Only the Young," "Don't Stop Believin'," "Any Way You Want It," "Separate Ways," "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'," "Open Arms," "Send Her My Love" — is here, which means that it's all most casual fans will ever need. [The set was reissued in 2006 with an expanded booklet and the addition of one song, "When You Love a Woman," from 1996's Trial by Fire.]

Amazing

My Take On Their Greatest Hits

by zachlife

They are one of my favorite bands alive and its a shame steve perry is no longer with them, but this album definitely shows off the bulk of their great songs. Now i admit, i am a geek for loving such an 80's band, but who cant resist their music?

1. Only The Young - originally replaced with "back talk" on their frontiers album, which was a huge mistake. This is my second favorite Journey song and happy its the first track on it
2. Don't Stop Believin' - classic, not much else to say.
3. Wheel In The Sky - From their first album, great chorus, great guitar, love that old old journey sound
4. Faithfully - Huge power ballad from their album Frontiers, great power vocals at the end of the song, definitely in their top 5 songs
5: I'll Be Alright Without You - From their album Raised On Radio, I must say, this album is highly underrated, and i feel it is one of their best albums, and this song is great. Not my favorite from Raised On Radio but still, a great chorus and instrumental verse.
6. Any Way You Want It - One of the most recongnizable Journey songs, from Caddyshack, Simpsons, etc. If you dont know this song, get to know it now!
7. Ask the lonely - This was the other track taken of Frontiers and replaced with "Troubled Child" which isnt on this album. Very 80's song.
8. Who's Crying Now - This song is overplayed on my radio stations, but it still is a great tune when your trying to relax.
9. Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) - Journeys only number 1 single. I feel its extremely 80's but who can go wrong with the lead singers vocals in this?
10. Lights - This is probably my 2nd fav by them. Extremely peaceful, from their first album, and very catchy.
11. Lovin', Touchin, Squeezin' - One of their only successful songs from their album "Evolution" -Who can forget the "Na, na na na's" on this track. Great song.
12. Open Arms - Very soulful ballad on their Escape album, but personally not my favorite by them, although one of their most popular.
13. Girl Can't Help It - Another song from Raised On Radio, probably one of my favorites from the album, but still there are much better songs from that album to put on here, which ill talk about for number 15 ;) But this song has a lovely ending.
14. Send Her My Love - Really a haunting song. Cuts you deep. Love the lyrics and guitar work in this song.
15. Be good to yourself - Finally a worthy Raised On Radio Track, this song breathes energy and life, underrated song definitely.
16. When you love a woman - Ah, Trial By Fire, the last good album by this band, i often wonder what other albums could have been written after this one if the band had not thrown out their best member. This song really is great, and was much anticipated upon its release.

A few songs i would put on this album would be feeling that way, dixie highway, keep on running, positive touch, after the fall, if you would like to hear a few other greats.

In My Opinion, in order of worst to best from the track number on this album, i would have to order it as 12, 8, 13, 5, 9, 3, 14, 7, 16, 15, 11, 6, 4, 10, 1, 2 but all of these songs are great.
