Italian-Canadian Misstress Barbara (a pun on "Miss" and "Stress") ups the stakes for her own Relentless label with a frenzied, bra-twirling, yet snug and sociable plate of hard techno beats and smooth French vocals looping like a mischievous Truffautian siren. But its strong drive thankfully devoid of the falsely empowering Lisa Lashes ogling factor is, in a way, the real reason this was one of the more interesting branches of conventional dance music to grow out of 2001.
