iTunes Review

The title track of David Gray’s 2010 album shuffles with a sense of wanderlust. Gray’s muted his Van Morrison-influenced sense of discovery over the years and instead focused on tighter tunes that get to the point. It’s helped him connect with audiences, but it’s made those who fell in love with 1993’s A Century Ends wonder whatever became of that guy. Well, he shows up from time to time, alongside the more traditional tunes. “Foundling,” “Gossamer Thread” and “Holding On” sound like tunes Van Morrison could’ve put together in his prime. Elsewhere, Gray experiments with horns (“A New Day At Midnight”), rustic folk laments (“We Could Fall in Love Again Tonight”) and mild adult-pop arrangements (“In God’s Name”) that show Gray can be all things to all people. His versatility makes him an unusual talent and his prolific abilities — these tunes were written during the same sessions as his previous album, 2009’s Drawn the Line — ensure his legacy as a committed writer. The Deluxe Edition includes eight additional tunes worthy of his voice, especially “Old Father Time,” “Indeed I Will” and “A Moment Changes Everything.”

Classic David Gray...

Not much more you can say...the vocals, ballads, and beats are classic David Gray. Has a bit of a different vibe with songs like Foundling, but sounded like an extension of Draw the Line. That doesn't change anything. David Gray fans will love, others should give it a full listen! Bravo.

Ace. Again.

I tend to write a lengthy review for the artists that I love...but really, what else can you say? It's more great, solid music from Mr. Gray and a lovely addition to his catalogue. You can only admire how prolific and tireless he is, throwing us another worthy album (a Deluxe version, at that) only a year after "Draw the Line." Certainly an artist and musician at ease here. Highlight/favourite tracks for me: the stellar 'Foundling' title track, 'Davey Jones' Locker', 'The Old Chair' (beautiful string arrangements), the playful 'Indeed I will' (had this before, free track from his site), 'A Moment Changes Everything', 'Holding On', 'In God's Name', 'A New Day At Midnight' (never made it on that album of the same name?)...anyway, love them all. If you're a David Gray fan, you'll enjoy it all. If you're not...what's up? Check it out, he does not disappoint. I am looking forward to seeing/hearing him again August 27th in Toronto - he is so outstanding in concert!

Amazing!!!

I listen to all kinds of music during the day while I work, but this is what I listen to just 4 me...
My new favorite...A Moment Changes Everything
