Innovative

What a unique album, impossible to classify. Kind of a softer, more introspective Prefuse 73. A collage of sounds, samples, and music that is so skillfully arranged that it is never jarring. Some samples made me laugh out loud, but this isn't novelty music. It's bona-fide art. This will be on continuous play for me, for a while! Kudos to The Books for taking risks and creating something new.

The Books' story began in 2000, when Nick Zammuto and Paul de Jong met through a friend in New York City. Sharing similar interests but different backgrounds in acoustic music and found sound, Zammuto and de Jong experimented and plunked away with a mix of melody, electronics, and ethereal atmospherics.
