Welcome to Collective Soul
After years of struggling to make it, Collective Soul had broken up and Ed Roland sat down and recorded some songwriting demos to shop to other artists. One of those songs, "Shine," got picked up by a radio station, and the rest is history. He got the band back together and Collective Soul was huge. I was going through a rough patch inn my life when this album came along, and tracks like "Goodnight, Good Guy," "Wasting Time" and "Heaven's Already Here" helped me through. The production quality is not the greatest, and some of the songs are throwaways, but the talent of Ed Roland carries this effort a long way.
Fave Moment: A simple song of hope and faith, broken by a crunchy guitar riff and some well-timed "yeah"s, it's no fluke that "Shine" became one of the biggest songs of the decade, and it's only one of many songs I love on this little treasure of an album.
