Customer Reviews

Why?

how come the Arkells are so awesome?

Arkells need a larger audience...

It is a very rare situation when a group of musicians come along that are as talented, authentic, and dedicated as these guys. Upon listening to their debut record, it was soon obvious that there is substance to their music. Very rarely are debut albums as consistently strong as Arkell's Jackson Square is, and very rarely do bands better-themselves with each live show. This Digital 45 Series from Dine Alone is a decent representation of their craft, but the live experience just doesn't translate extremely well here. It's a bit like listening to a 69' Mustang idle instead of hearing what it can do on a few miles of open road. If you ever have the opportunity to see these guys live, do it, they will be your favourite live band. If these guys get the proper exposure (read: American exposure), they might just be the next seriously big band.

Digital Splits

Yes, I agree the Arkells are one of the most entertaining bands to come out of Canada in a long long time. But lets not forget how amazing it is to see Jim Ward (ex At The Drive In, Sparta) and now in Sleepercar be featured here. This is a great split and would love to see these two bands tour together some day. Lets take this a few steps further, City and Colour / Arkells / Attack in Black / Sleepercar Dine Alone tour. please
