In Darkness & In Light
is essential for anyone who enjoys The Maine, raw talent, and musicians who clearly love what they are doing. The Maine, once again, displays how committed to the music they are and what lengths they are willing to go to in order to explore their ever-growing potential as musicians and young adults. The short film, "In Darkness & In Light", is a beautiful tale with more meaning in its twenty minutes of screen time than the majority of films playing in theaters right now. And the score represents each scene with an accuracy that most people would be surprised to learn comes from musicians who, at that point, had never even thought about scores prior to the creation of the short film.
And although the short film is reason enough to buy "In Darkness & In Light" there is also the added bonus of eight songs. There are new songs to be heard and old songs to be sung. Two of my favorite songs from the eight however, are Untangle Me and Saving Grace (Take 2). Untangle Me is a new song, but it sheds a light on what "Black and White" could have been and take 2 of Saving Grace shows the transformation a song can take when given the right circumstances.
"In Darkness & In Light" is a short film and eight songs (plus more) that would appeal to any fan of The Maine or anyone who is looking for a band that will grow with them. The Maine never ceases to amaze and touch me, and I believe this short film and these songs will do the same for other people. So folks, buy "In Darkness & In Light" and you won't be disappointed. It will give you a chance to re-connect with The Maine and will keep your appetites satisfied until their next concert, meet and greet, album, or maybe even their next movie!
Not what I expected
The Maine is my favorite band....this is my least favorite of everything they've come out with. The consept is awesome and I was so excited for this album. It really fell short.
AMAZING
I love The Maine, and listening to this makes me fall in love with them all over again. My favorite song is Untangle Me, and watching the Growing Up video makes you feel like you're a part of the song too. It's so good you won't be disappointed.
